Starting Area

The starting area surrounds your initial broken boat. It is a relatively calm stretch of water with:

• Few hazards — No sea mines, limited wildlife, no spider zones. Ideal for learning.

• Beginner-friendly docks — The first dock you encounter sells basic supplies at accessible prices.

• You have already explored extensively and want to complete the run.

The Scenic Route

The off-route path through hidden areas and lagoon zones. It takes significantly longer but rewards you with:

• Rare fish catches worth significantly more than common species.
• Richer resource deposits for repair material stockpiling.
• A higher chance of Laba the Frog discoveries.
• More interesting emergent gameplay situations.

Mixed Strategy

Most successful players use a hybrid approach: take the scenic route on the outbound voyage, gathering resources and exploring, then use faster routes on return trips when you have a full hold and less need for additional collection.

• Use the map — Press M to open the map. Docks are clearly marked. Hazard zones have varying visibility on the map — mine fields are usually marked, spider zones and boulder areas are often discovered through encounter.
